YDL Caribbean Connection

On 11 September over 200 people from 100 nations joined the Young Diplomats in London (YDL) at the prestigious Marlborough House for a Caribbean-themed party, Caribbean Connection, to raise money for a charity in St Lucia.

Bernard Hamilton, President of YDL stated: ‘The YDL is delighted with the overwhelming support we received for this event, the proceeds of which will be given to assist with the rebuilding of a hospital in the Caribbean.’ He added, ‘Charity and giving back to the community is at the core of the ethos of the YDL. We are thankful to all of our sponsors and supporters who made the event possible and to the hardworking committee members who promoted it.’

Guests were welcomed by a steel pan band and Caribbean carnival dancers, followed by live music from Keith Waithe. Rum punch and other cocktails were served and lucky winners of the raffle won prizes of holidays to the Caribbean. The evening was sponsored by IDS, BMW, the Kuwaiti Embassy, Towergate Embassy Insurance, Diplomat, Friends of the Commonwealth and a number of other Embassies and High Commissions.
